Recipes, inspiration and information gathered here so you can have an easy vegan Easter!

The text on the picture says: "Is that you, Frieda?")

Why do we celebrate Easter?

The Bible tells us about Jesus' resurrection after being crucified and to remember his suffering, death and way back to life the Christians celebrate Easter. The Jewish Easter is celebrated because of the Exodus - when the Jews walked free from Egypt after years of enslavement. Today most people celebrate it out of habit and not because of religion.

How do we celebrate Easter?

The holiday last for several days and celebrates differently in different countries. For example, in Sweden children dress up as "Easter witches" and goes round giving away things like drawings they made and as a thank you they get candy. In Sweden we also believe(d) that the real witches flies to Blåkulla / Blockula during Easter.
One well known tradition which is done in most countries is painting eggs, decorating with feathers and eating lamb.

How do the industry animals celebrate Easter?

In Sweden  we gas 15 000 newborn male chickens each day, about 5.5 million male chickens a year. In India about 180 million male chickens are culled every year. This numbers are too big to grasp and it's impossible to understand. At the same time we did understand and we did react when Hitler killed approximately 6 million Jews during 12 years.
Feathers are often a by-product in the chicken meat industry or even picked from birds when they are alive. The only way to make 100 % sure that the feathers are Vegan is by making fake ones yourself.
In Sweden lambs are slaughtered when they are six months old. To have them ready for the slaughter house for Easter they are being born during the Autumn which means that they will never see the sun (except maybe in and out from the truck) and they will never touch the grass.

Love the easter rocks! I'm going out collecting rocks today for the grandkids to paint. So easy and fun for small kids to do.

They will love it and I will love it 🙂

Thank for a good article and great easter tips!

#1 Yeah, I also loved them. But my favorite are the feathers in the video (#2). If I celebrated Easter I would totally decorate with them! 🙂
